  1. Here’s a link to a video in which Draiman discusses the song (along with another song on the album, “Fire It Up”): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7s8suGyf3sU Apparently, it was suggested by their drummer, Mike Wengren, while Dan Donegan, their guitarist, suggested keeping the cover acoustic (I don’t know how familiar you are with Disturbed, but past covers have been like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u6KXgjLqSTg), and their producer came up with the piano arrangement.

Out of curiosity, do you think this cover is better than, as good as, or worse than the original song? I like both, but I think I prefer this (although I tend to prefer Disturbed’s renditions to the originals anyway). What surprised me, though, is that considering “The Sound of Silence” is one of my mother’s favorite songs, when I played her this version after I listened to the rest of the album, she also ended up preferring it over the original.

    1. This was the first I have ever heard of Disturbed, but I’m now happy I have. I do prefer this version to the original, the original brings back melancholy memories. This version really seems to surge with emotion, I like that very much. I liked that other cover y0u shared too, I was a big Phil Collins fan back in time.
