For some time, I have been in the habit of meeting new people.
It has become increasingly apparent that I need to once again take up reading in a proactive manner.
In the past, I read to escape, and the majority of my reading was mostly fiction of many types.
In the far past, I regularly consumed self-help books. This is good, but I believe it’s time to add new material to my list. There is no shortage of unread books at my home.
Many of these are related to business, but there are now a few new ones. The Ascent of Money by Niall Ferguson, The Protestant Ethic and the spirit of Capitalism by Max Weber, The Wealth of Nations by Adam Smith, The making of Global Capitalism by Leo Panitch and Sam Gindin, and finally The Structure of World History by Kojin Karatani.
Wish me luck, I will probably need it.
Why these new ones? One of my more recently developed friendships with a Political Scientist by the name of Gabrielle has inspired me to learn more so that I can participate in a more meaningful way during our discussions.
The other books on building businesses are around because I’m searching for something to provide structure and even possibly extra money after I leave my current company.
I believe I have enough time to do this.
